lemanyaremember how the Australian station Channel Ten stopped airing Supernatural only six episodes into season five, so fans kicked up a storm and mounted a (successful) campaign to bring it back?
Well, three episodes after Ten resumed airing it, they've cancelled it again. This time, it seems permanent. Supernatural is very very poorly advertised, and aired in a timeslot of little significance (mondays at ten pm- everyone's in bed preparing for the next day) and so naturally, the ratings aren't the best. This apparently, is the reason for it's cancellation, despite Ten knowing exactly what ratings they would receive based on previous ratings polls. They supposedly resumed airing it for us, but alas, their lack of respect for the fans obviously does not extend to (at the very least) completing the season.
It's just not fair, and I'm kind of trying not to cry. I'm just so sick of fighting Ten, and putting in all my efforts to keep Supernatural afloat, when Ten just continually decide to screw us over.
On Monday 12th of April, Ten will air episode 5.09 The Real Ghostbusters, and then that's it- we'll never see it again on Australian television.

Date: 2010-04-12 01:52 pm (UTC)The kicker is that Supernatural does a LOT better than quite a few other programs on. Stargate: Universe got cut after three episodes- it couldn't even get more than 200,000 in the ratings, whereas Supernatural (with adequate promotion) gets around 400- 450,000. Changing Channels got only 330,000, but if you ever see the ad for it, you'll see why. It was a very poor advertisement. Same with Real Ghostbusters.
Ten are set up to air s2 of Merlin which, while 'yay, Merlin!' had a season 1 ratings grab of somewhere around 250-300,000 I think.
Bout the only consolation we have is that there was a VO at the end of tonight's ep that said "Supernatural will return later in the year" and the fact that Ten are planning on launching another digital channel- a channel that'll show reruns of older shows and probably load up on sci-fi shows and such. We think it may end up there.
But yeah- we aren't gonna get to see 5.10 until God knows when.
